Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme: Get £7,500 Towards Your New Heat Pump
he Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is the government’s flagship grant to help homeowners in England and Wales move away from fossil fuel heating. Instead of paying the full price for a low-carbon system, the government provides a direct "voucher" to cover a significant portion of the cost.
What are the 2026 Grant Amounts?
As of 2026, the grant levels have remained at their highest-ever rates to make the switch affordable:
- Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP): £7,500 grant.
- Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP): £7,500 grant.
- New for Late 2026: A £2,500 grant is now available for Air-to-Air heat pumps (perfect for smaller properties or specific room heating/cooling).
Who Is Eligible?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is designed for "Able-to-Pay" homeowners and landlords. You can apply if:
- You own your property: This includes your main home, second homes, and buy-to-let properties.
- You are replacing fossil fuels: You must be replacing a gas, oil, LPG, or traditional electric heating system.
- Property Type: Existing homes and "self-builds" are eligible. (Standard new-build properties from developers are excluded).
Big Change for 2026: You no longer need to have "no outstanding insulation recommendations" on your EPC to qualify. The government has removed the mandatory insulation requirement, meaning you can get your heat pump installed first and upgrade your insulation later.
The "No-Hassle" Application Process
You don't need to fill out complex government forms or wait for a check in the mail. We handle the paperwork for you:
- Get a Quote: We provide a quote for your new system (like the AUX R290 Monoblock). This quote will clearly show the £7,500 discount applied upfront.
- Voucher Reservation: Once you agree to the quote, we apply to Ofgem for your voucher. You will receive an email to confirm you've instructed us to do the work.
- Installation & Discount: We install your system and redeem the voucher ourselves. You only ever pay the net amount (the total cost minus the £7,500 grant).
Why choose a Heat Pump in 2026?
- 0% VAT: There is currently 0% VAT on heat pump installations until March 2027.
- Energy Bill Stability: By moving to electricity, you can pair your heating with Solar Panels to further reduce your monthly outgoings.
- Future-Proofing: With the gas grid transition underway, an R290-based heat pump ensures your home meets all future environmental standards.
